Always out to full extension for me. I am a smaller shooter and during my time in the Marine Corps we only had the M16A2 with the full size stock so I learned how to get used to the full length and even when we had the M4 I still ran the stock out to full extension. Regardless of armor or no armor I still run the stock all the way out.
