Photo of the Day: Hornady Match 308 Ammo

Finally getting ready to do some accuracy testing on the S&W M&P 10.

Not long ago, I purchased a Smith & Wesson M&P10 .308 rifle and my initial impressions of the gun were extremely positive. It features quite a few nice features, and the aggressive price point makes it an attractive addition to the market. Most importantly, the gun actually works well. I’ve been meaning to get to the range and do some accuracy testing, but other commitments got in the way (and I really hate zeroing optics.) Hornady was generous enough to send out a few boxes of their excellent 308 for the test, so look forward to an accuracy report here.

  1. I am eagerly waiting for your report! One question I have is do you know if a 762 Bravo charging handle will work in it?? I bought one a few months ago but have not had time to get to the rifle range and shoot it, as I have aquired extra P mags and the same ammo you have but the F/R Troy sites have not been purchased. Before anyone says anything about a few months and not shooting it, I work for a defense contractor and I am a full time college student at night as in two classes and I have an autistic son, so I am spread thin. My indoor pistol range is close so I am able to shoot normally 1-2 a month but the rifle range is a different matter, anyway cant wait to read your review on the Smith. thanks bill

    • I have no direct experience with that charging handle, but if it will work in a DPMS pattern upper receiver, it should work just fine in the M&P10. I can relate to the limited range time, so no worries there. My longer term plan is to replace the hand guard with a Centurion Arms CMR, and shorten the barrel to 16″ and replace the gas block with a low profile one. I am awaiting a CMR that will match up to the DPMS “low” upper receiver, which I am told, is coming.
